The Officer Shea trial.
En el 1973, otra ola de revueltas estallaron en Queens, ciudad de Nueva York, luego de que Thomas Shea, un policía encubierto disparara contra Clifford Glover, un niño afroamericano de 10 años. Sucedió en la mañana del sábado 28 de abril de 1973, en Queens, ciudad de Nueva York, alrededor de las 5:00 am. En la oscuridad previa al amanecer, Clifford Glover, de diez años, caminaba con su padrastro, Add Armstead, hacia la patio de salvamento de automóviles donde Armstead trabajaba, como lo hacían la mayoría de los sábados. El patrullero Thomas Shea y su compañero, Walter Scott, pasaron en un automóvil sin distintivos. Los policías estaban al acecho de un par de ladrones armados vestidos de manera similar a Clifford y su padrastro, y se detuvieron para perseguirlos. Por temor a que los robaran, el hombre y el niño huyeron. Se hicieron disparos que alcanzaron al niño.

El jurado, once hombres blancos y una mujer afroestadounideses, declaró a Shea no culpable. Sin embargo, un procedimiento administrativo policial llevó a Shea, a ser despido por disparar su arma "indebidamente y sin justa causa".
En 1979, la ciudad llegó a un acuerdo con la familia por $ 115,000 dolares.
